I spent years designing learning experiences before I ever touched a product roadmap. As a teacher, the job was always about making something make sense for the person on the other end, that's where the curiosity started. Empathy was never something I had to develop for this career, it's just how I've always approached people, and it turned out to translate directly into design.

Working closely with support, growth, and product leadership meant hearing directly what was breaking for users and understanding the business reasoning behind every priority call. That cross-functional closeness, especially with engineering, taught me to adapt my process to whoever I'm building with, and it's shaped how I think about product design since.

AI hasn't made me nervous about where this field is going. It's made me faster and more curious. I use it daily to move quicker and test ideas before I commit to them. It's also what's pushing me to start building something of my own next.
